Hello there Joy Clair friends! It's Kerry here and today I'm taking a break from the winter festivities to celebrate a little with my friends on the other side of the hemisphere. Yeppers, it's SUMMER down under and I thought I'd create a little sunshine today!
It actually started out as a challenge. I wanted to challenge myself to work with a random stamp set from my JC stash. SOOOO...I went to my JC Stamp stash and with my eyes closed, I grabbed a random stamp set. I flipped it around and discovered I picked a nice and fruity/summery set called :Life Is Sweet" . Alrighty! Sooo. How was I going to work with this set in the middle of winter, right before Christmas and the New Year? Then it hit me. It actually slapped me right across my face! The SOLSTICE! It just happened and reminded me that While we're enjoying winter up here in the NORTHERN hemisphere, down SOUTH, they're basking in the sunshine! SOOO...There you have it, I figured it out. I'd make a nice sunshiny card for all my friends waaayyyy down south! :)
I started out by stamping the Hello Summer sentiment onto a little white tag. I then blurred it up a bit with a blending brussh and flicked some black acrylic paint on it. I attached a scrap of some limey iridescent watercolor paper from my crafty scrap stash and then added some lace, twine and a bow. After working on the tag, I picked some BRIGHT yellow cardstock for the card base and stamped some lemons faintly in the background. I attached my tag to this card base and then added some "sunshine" by tucking a golden candy cup wrapper under the tag. To finish things off, I added a few sparkly gems here and there.
I like to curl the edges of my tags when I place them on a cardfront. I think it helps add a bit more dimension and aids in the shadow effects I like to have when taking photos. Of course, finding the right props for summer...during winter is a pretty big feat so I ended up with grabbing some sour candies and a little lime green bucket. Candy's important during the summer, right?
Thanks for hopping over today and I hope your last few weeks of 2019 are fabulous. I'm looking forward to many great happenings in 2020! See you around!
