Hi everyone! It's Lindsay, from the Crafting While Caffeinated Blog and YouTube Channel, here with you today sharing another video tutorial! I LOVE the Color by Faith line of stamps from Joy Clair. They are really what started my journey into Bible Journaling and today I'm trying something new again! I am fascinated when I watch mixed media artists work their magic and I really wanted to dip my toes into the mixed media world with my Bible Journaling. I create a very bright and colorful page with a few different layers and I have to say it was a lot of fun to play around with a few of the mixed media techniques I've picked up! You can watch the entire process in the video tutorial below!
There are quite a few steps in creating this page, so be sure to watch the video above for all the details! I started this page by adhering in tissue paper that I had printed on. I do have a video tutorial sharing exactly how I do this, and you can watch that HERE! I used matte medium to glue this down and then let that first layer dry before blending an acrylic paint scene onto the background. I thinned down the paints so they would be more transparent and allow the tissue paper music sheet to still be visible.
As I was allowing the background to dry I moved onto stamping and coloring my image from the Rise and Shine stamp set. I stamped onto watercolor paper and colored with my Arteza markers then fussy cut my little rooster. With my image done, I still needed a place to add my verse without it getting lost in the background. I masked off the edge of the paper and applied a strip of black gesso over the paint. After letting it dry, I was able to stamp and heat emboss with white right over the top so my verse was nice and prevalent!
I added a few final touches to this page. I glued down my rooster with a clear liquid glue in the bottom left hand corner. I was pretty happy with the page, but I wanted to balance out the black strip with another on the right side!
I had such a fun time playing around with new techniques and really just layering multiple mediums to create this page! It is so different from others I have made!! If you are interested in the stamp set I used today, you can find it linked down below! Until next time, Happy Crafting!!
