Monica here today to share with you my latest Art Journal page. For the page I used two sets from the new release, The Potter and Crackle background, as well as two older sets Wood background and Fancy Letters. I started my project by cutting down some mixed media paper to fit on my journal page. Then I grabbed some distress ink, I used Ground Espresso, Old Paper and brushed Corduroy, to ink up the back ground. Once I got the background colored I used the same three inks with the Crackle background to add texture, since I was hoping to make it look like an old stucco wall. You know for the potters studio! ;-)
Next up is the shelves and table. I had some scraps from cutting the paper down and used them to create my strips of wood. I used the lighter colors to color the strips then used the darkest color to stamp the wood background on them. I didn't like how light they looked because they blended in with the background to much. So once the stamped ink was dry enough I went over them with the ground espresso ink, so they would stand out from the background. I added some ink to the sides and then glued them to the page.
Here is the moment I realized I forgot to take any pictures of the stamping or coloring process of the images, DOH! I must have really just been in the zone. Anywhoo... I stamped the three images from The Potter on another scrap mixed media paper and used Copics to color them. I made sure to pick some brighter colors so that would stand out on the sepia toned background. Once they were colored I used my Scan-n-Cut to cut them out and adhered them so that they were placed on the shelves and table.
To finish the page I added two of the sentiments form The Potter and used the Fancy letters to create the bigger sentiment. I also decided to add some shadows under the shelves to create a little depth.
Thanks for stopping by, see you next time!
