Joy Clair New Release - New Baby Shaker Card

Hello, crafty friends! Nicole here today to introduce you to an adorable new stamp set called New Baby. This one has me getting a little, tiny bit, of the baby fever! It includes a onesie that you can adorn with the cutest little giraffe, owl, or sentiments. Also, what baby card would be complete without those precious hand and foot prints. I was lucky enough to be able to use this stamp set for my sister-in-law’s baby shower last month, along with a matching banner I made for her.

If you’ve seen some of my past cards that I’ve created, along with plenty of future ones, you’ll notice I’m kind of into the shaker cards. These are so fun to fill and design, and are so easy that you can whip them together pretty quickly. I love the shaker kits because they all have coordinating die cuts that you can purchase. 

Start by stamping the onesie on white cardstock and then adding your favorite little animal; I chose the owl since they had a woodland theme. I colored the onesie using Prismacolor pencils and blended using a blending pencil. Next, cut it out leaving a small boarder of white. 

Then, use the shaker card die cut to cut the two different papers that you want for the inside square and the outer design. Every now and then, I like to try my hand in pattern mixing, and get a little wild! I think these two compliment each other without being too crazy.

Now it’s time to start putting everything together. Adhere the foam piece to the blank card that comes in the kit. Then, tape or glue the small square cardstock in the open space, and then tape your little onesie in the center. Now for the fun part! Add all the sequins that your little heart desires! Once that is done, peel the backing off of the foam piece and place the clear sheet on top. 

Next, glue the other piece of cardstock that you cut on to the top of the card. Cut a strip of kraft paper about ¾” high by 3” wide, and stamp “Congrats” with your preferred embossing ink, add embossing powder, and then use your heat gun to emboss. Then, cut a smaller strip from any coordinating cardstock and emboss “baby boy” (or girl) using gold embossing powder. Make to cuts on the bottom so it becomes a ribbon/banner shape. The cardstock pack that I used included these small, thin ribbon shaped pieces that worked perfectly with my design, but you can easily create your own. To finish this card, simply glue or tape the accent pieces together and then onto the top of the card.

This card was so much fun to make, especially since the New Baby stamp set lets you design your own adorable onesie! The possibilities are endless with this stamp set, and I can’t wait to see what you all create!

Joy Clair's Chain Breaker with Monica

Today I'm here to share with you from the new Joy Clair release- Chain Breaker and my first Bible journaling page! Well the first one that was already pre-printed in the book at least! I have a lot to learn about what is best to use and what not to use, but I'm very excited about the process and journey! I have been wanting to do it for sometime and have even asked for tips, but have always been nervous. I'm sure I'll feel more confident as time goes by and Joy Clair's stamps are sure to help me! 

I started by stamping images from Chain Breaker (the chains, broken pieces and sentiment) with VersaFine ink and some (the lines form the breaking) in Faded Jeans distress oxide ink. They both left pretty dark shadowing, I will need look into "priming" my page first next time with some gesso or something.  When I saw the chains in the set I knew that I wanted my chains to have a metallic look, so I grabbed some Pewter Perfect Pearls out of my stash and some water to mix it with. Once the ink was dry (waiting is important with VersaFine or it can smear) I used the perfect pearls mixed with water to watercolor my chains and broken pieces. Here is a closer look at the perfect pearls colored chains with the shimmer it adds to the image.

 Once the chains were dry, I decided to write out the verse I was highlighting along the chains since it is actually on the other page and there was already a pre-printed image on that side. There are some other great sentiments with the Chain Breaker set that I'm sure will be used in the future.

Refuel My Soul Bible Journaling Page

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a new Bible Journaling Page. Refuel My Soul is a new stamp set from Color by Faith Collection by Joy Clair and it is also a great set to create to create cards or projects inspired on adventures. Today I want to share with you a fun and quick technique that you can use over your Bible or journal to create a colorful background using watercolors and a plastic bag. Take a look at my page:

Maybe you are asking a plastic bag? for what? Well it is for smooth the color. It is simple and the plastic remove the excess of water and let the paper dry faster.

1. Take your favorite watercolor paints and select your colors. I am using Kuretake Gansai with a paint brush.
2. Start applying the color with a paint brush and smooth the colors with a plastic plastic blag.
3. Repeat the process with each color that you want to use and mix the colors. 
4. Let the paper dry or speed the process with a heat tool.
5. Stamp your images from the stamp set Refuel my Soul with a dark ink. I used Versafine Imperial Purple. 
6. If you want you can add more color when the ink is totally dry but  in this case you need to use another different type of ink like Mementos.

Easy and simple but this type of color texture add to your bible or journal a different look and if you are like me that don't like to cover the scriptures with the paint brush and the plastic bag you can control the movement of the colors.

Bible Journaling with Joy Clair Stamps "Fisher of Men"

Hello Everyone!! It's Lindsay here today, sharing some of my Bible Journaling using the new Fisher of Men Stamp Set. This set is gorgeous and I couldn't wait to journal with it. But even if journaling isn't your thing, or  you just want more uses for it, this set is perfect for cards as well! Today, I have a Bible Journaling page and I wanted to share how to use your snow markers and incorporate them into your journaling as well. In this set there is a rectangle stamp that contains a net pattern which is perfect for stamping repeatedly and create a background. I used Antique Linen Distress Ink to stamp this background, so it blended into the page a bit and wasn't that prominent in the page design. The next stamping I did was two of the hooks and also one of the fish. I used waterproof black dye ink for this stamping as I knew I wanted to do some watercoloring later on.

With a waterline above my hooks masked off with painter's tape I started Distress Ink blending with a brush and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink. The brush works a bit better for me in journaling, since it puts less pressure on the page it doesn't bunch up at all. I also mixed in a little Nautical Blue dye ink from Imagine Crafts to deepen up the water. With my ink blending done, it was time to put some "foam" on top of the water with the help of my Snow Marker. This is super simple to use, you only need a heat gun to make it work! I added a pretty thick line along the top of the water and because it's "foam" it doesn't need to be straight or the same thickness all the way across. I let this liquid dry a bit and moved onto watercoloring my fish before I took my heat tool to it. When you add heat it puffs up and creates what resembles "snow" but in our case "foam" on top of an ocean. 

My final step in this page was adding my quote on top of the page. I stamped "Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men" on top of the page along the left hand margin with black dye ink. I also used my waterproof black fine tip pen to underline the verses I was focusing on. To make my lines nice and straight (because I didn't want to cross any of the words out with a slip of the hand), I used a ruler to help in this process!

If you're wondering how the snow marker holds up with the Bible closed, it does flatten out a bit, but it still retains that "puffy" look so the effect isn't lost! Also, it doesn't cause the two pages to stick together. I let this page sit closed with another heavy book on top to put some pressure and I came back the next day and my pages were not stuck together at all. Joy Clair Praise the Lord Bible Journaling Stamp Set

Hello and welcome!  I'm here today featuring a brand new set from Joy Clair's latest release!  (The whole new release is FANTASTIC!!!)

It's called "Praise the Lord" and it's filled with great stamps to use for both Bible journaling and your cards.

Here's how I created my page:

1)  First stamp the hands from the stamp set across the bottom of page, then I add music washi tape to the top and bottom.

2)  Next, put thin black strips of black card stock to outline the washi tape. 

3)  Stamp the sentiments from the set in random places on the page.

4)  Color letter with glitter pens in rainbow order.

5)  Add clear Gelly Roll glitter pen to the shadows of the letters. 

6) Put rainbow washi tape on page edge and outline with black card stock.  Die cut lots of colors of music heart notes and stacked them off set in 3 places on the page.  (The die is from Casual Fridays.)  Place just the red heart/notes without stems around the page.  Highlight and frame the text.

This is one of my favorite sets ever!  Being a music teacher over the years, I've heard many a "joyful noise" from students - some wonderful and and some not so wonderful - haha!  But always with the intention to help them improve their noises - until they are extremely JOYFUL!   

I love the phrase "Make a Joyful Noise" - it's one of my favs EVER!

This set, Joy Clair Praise the Lord, is so uplifting and I'm sure I will be using it a lot!

Bridge Card With Gnome Is Where The Heart Is

Hello everyone... Helen is here today! I am back with a fun fold card called Bridge Card using the new released stamp set, Gnome Is Where The Heart Is. Check out all the images and sentiments from this adorable set!

I have been looking for some fun fold card ideas and found several tutorial of how to create this bridge card on Pinterest and YouTube. You can simply search using the word Bridge Card :) This video tutorial is one of the tutorials I found, if you would like to check.

My card is 5.5" x 4.25" and fits in a regular A2 envelope when it is fold flat. Here's the steps how I created this card and I used watercolor paper for my card. You can use regular or heavy weight cardstocks, too.

• Cut out the piece of cardstock into 8" x 4.25"
• Cut out out one more into 1.25" x 5.5"
• Score at 1.25", 2.5", 5.5", and 6.75"
• Fold at the score lines (look like in the picture to create the almost gate fold look).

In the video tutorial, she will show you how to create the mats for each side of the panels. But on my card, instead of mats of patterned papers, I created the blue sky background with Broken China Distress Ink using Ink Smooshing Technique. I dried each layer to build up the layers of colors. I did the same on with the bridge strip using Mowes Lawn Distress Ink.

I stamped the sentiment on the center of the card with Versafine Onyx Black ink pad.

Then I stamped the other images from Gnome Is Where The Heart Is stamp set on a smooth white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Ink Pad, colored them with Primacolors Pencils and Blender, and cut them out.

I finished the card by adding the colored images on the card with Art Glitter Dies Clear Adhesive.

Joy Clair Washed By The Blood Bible Journaling

Hello Friends!  

I have been so excited to use the New Releases by Joy Clair!  Their 'Washed By The Blood' set is so cute and perfect to use in my Bible!  I love the Scripture stamps but knew I had to get the little bathtub into my Bible!  

I wanted to use the Psalm 51:2 text Scripture stamp.  After spending some time in worship & prayer, I decided to use Psalm 51:1-5.  

"Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love; according to Your great compassion blot out my transgressions.  Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.  Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight; so You are right in Your verdict and justified when You judge.  Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me."

Here is how I made this page:

1. I wanted to watercolor the page and highlight the Scripture, so I drew some 'bath bubbles' around the text and also added some bubbles to the top of the page.  These were outlined using Sharpie Non-Bleed Fine Point Pens.  I went ahead and stamped the tub, shower head and text with StazOn Ink. 
2. I watercolored the page in Neocolor II Crayons using a water brush and highlighted the Scripture using Illustrated Faith Highlighter Washi.

3. Next I made the tab using the Jesus soap stamp from the set.  I cut the tab from white cardstock and colored in the remaining space with a yellow Faber Castell Big Brush Pitt Pen. 

4. I added some rubber duckie washi tape to the top of the page along with the tab. I used Illustrated Faith alpha stickers to put the word Cleanse at the top.  There are so many individual stamps that come in this set!  I used the bubbles and rubber duck to accent the page and added the words Live Clean to the tub.

Best Buds Mini Cards & Call on the Lord

Hi! Jenny Fruchey from Jen's Crafty Place here for my projects. I made some fun cards for you to give your BEST BUDS. You can use them as gift cards or just leave them in fun places in their house when you visit so they can find it after you leave. I love to leave little notes for my friends and family. Everyone could use a little something to make them smile. These will do just that, you can't help but smile when you see these little note cards! I used Joy Clair's new stamp set called "Best Buds" to make them.

Let's make them together!

1. Cut some card bases from white paper (3 x 6 inch and score at 3 inches). This will make 3x3 inch cards. Then cut 3x3 inch colored papers for your card fronts. (This is a good way to use your scrap papers, making mini cards! I used red, yellow, green and blue.) Next, cut some 2.5 x 2.5 inch white scraps and stamped them with Memento ink. (I colored mine with alcohol markers so use the paper and ink to correspond with your coloring choice) These will be the fronts of your cards that you will mount on the colored papers. 

2. Now stamp your sentiment on the inside of the cards. There are so many cute ones to choose from. You can make more then 4 cards if you can't choose!!

3. Once you have all your cards stamped on the inside and all your images stamped on your 2.5 x 2.5 inch squares, color your images. Like I stated above, I used alcohol markers. You can use colored pencils, markers, crayons or watercolor.

4. When finished, add the colored image to the colored square and adhere to the font of your card base. The card is finished but I always like to embellish further. I used a corner rounder to round the corners and also added some faux enamel dots for some dimension. If you want to make tiny envelopes, get an envelope maker and make 3x3 envelopes or follow this link for directions for making envelopes without a maker.

My second project is new!  I am brand new to it and if you ever had in interest in doing Bible Journaling, follow along on my blog as I find out the do's and don'ts of Bible Journaling. Below is my first page using the "Call on the Lord" stamp set. 

As you can clearly see, it isn't the best but it is a start. The first page is always the hardest to do. I learned a few things with my Bible page that I would like to share with you. (I am not saying that everything I try will work in your Bible pages, all Bibles are made with different papers and you will have to try yours out. I suggest you see if there are any blank pages in your Bible and pull them out. Use these for all your experimenting. Use as little space as you can so you can try different mediums in the space you have. Keep these in the back of your Bible inside a page protector. Make sure you use a pen to mark each "trial" so you know what works and what didn't and what medium looks like on the papers. )

1. I used Versafine ink. I do NOT recommend using this ink if you are doing more then stamping an image. It smears, takes a long time to dry and does not work well with other mediums. I suggest StazOn. It comes in many colors and is waterproof. 
2. I colored my image with colored pencils. This is a fun medium to use on the correct ink. I had smearing with the Versafine but with StazOn you will not have that problem. I love to color and using pencils is like going back to basics. It is relaxing and easy to carry if you want to do your Bible Journaling on the go.
3. Glitter pens. I think glitter pens are a MUST for Bible Journaling. I LOVE the sparkle it gives to all my lettering and doodling.
4. Washi tape is fun to add for color, to put over mistakes or to fill in some blank space. There are a million colors and patterns of washi tape so you can go crazy adding it to your pages!
5. Distress Inks. I want to add color to all the passages I have read. This way I know what I have read and what I haven't. I tried using distress inks this time. They worked very well. I just need to work a bit light handed so it will blend more smoothly next time. Distress inks come in all kinds of colors so I know I will have lots of choices when it comes to shading my text. It is also easy to see though. I am sure you can find other inks that will blend over text, just make sure you test an area before you commit to a large area. 
6. Highlighters. I tried the old tried and true highlighter that I had laying around but as you can see, it looks like I am crossing out words and not highlighting them. I found out that if you use "gel highlighters" you won't have that problem. I have purchased them and waiting their arrival. I will have them ready to go for my next Bible Journal post. 
7. Inking. If you are into fancy doodling that I was told Pitt pens. They come in all sorts of sizes and won't bleed though your paper. I have not tired the Pitt pen myself but I have Micron pens and they seem to work just as well.

Love Languages...Ich liebe dich!

Hello there Joy Clair friends!  It's Kerry here and I'm thrilled to share a project with you today that features the brand new Love Languages set from Joy Clair!  I was soooo excited to see this sentiment set because I saw my heritage language included!  WOOP!  I have always wanted some stamps that include German text (I can speak and read a little German but am not fluent) in my collection.  When I saw the I love you, auf Deutsch, I knew that was the sentiment I would be using!  WAHOO!  

I thought a while about how I would feature this sentiment and make it pop and I decided on creating a little chain of hearts in the background.  Since I love dimension and texture in my creations, I decided to create some little hearts and sew them together.  Here's how I did it:  

My first step was to create twelve inchie squares.  I wrinkled them up by hand to soften the paper and make them more fabric-like.  After that, I selected some inks to add some color.  

I used a plastic sleeve and rubbed some ink onto it then added the ink to the squares.  After that, I spritzed the pieces with water so they could bleed.  I rubbed them around in the pool of colored ink and then when I was happy with the color saturation, I set them onto a piece of graph paper to dry up a bit.  The graph paper bled a bit and left some impressions, but not enough to notice.  I then spritzed some golden ink on the squares then dried them with my heat gun and a pair of tweezers.  

After they were dry, I punched a heart out of each square.  I used my sewing machine to sew all the hearts together and then cut each "chain" into a set of four.  I then glued each chain onto a piece of white cardstock.  

My next step was to stamp the sketchy hear onto the blue hearts.  I used gold embossing powder to make them stand out.  The final step was sprinkling a bit of pearlescent ink onto the panel, adding some pearls and applying the sentiment tag.  I love how the tag just hovers over those hearts.  :)
