Are you all loving all of the challenges so far today?? I hope so!! Today my challenge is to stretch your stamps and use them in unexpected ways.
- Use a stamp set in a way that is different than originally intended.
- For example, you might ink a Christmas present stamp in a color other than red or green and use it on a birthday card. Or use a sentiment stamp for something other than a sentiment (to fill in a shape, etc)
For my stamp set, I chose one of my all time FAVORITE sets from Joy Clair Stamps to use today, the Hello Sentiments Stamp Set. Now whenever you look at a sentiment set, you obviously think of using that set for sentiments, but there are so many creative and fun ways to use them in your cardmaking. Using sentiments with different techniques for different looks is a great way to change them up, but you can also use them for shape stamping, creating backgrounds, fill in die cuts, etc. Today, I used the Hello Sentiments stamp set to create a fun background for a die cut shape. You can watch the full video tutorial below to see exactly how I did it!
Using the outline of the die cut that I was using, I first used it as a mask to blend in some Worn Lipstick Distress Ink to fill in the background with one solid color. Then, I chose a few of the small sentiments in the Hello Sentiments stamp set to stamp repeatedly inside that mask to fill in the shape as well. I used a Peony die cut, however, this technique will work with any shaped die cut so think outside the box!! You can use ballons for a fun birthday card, hearts for an anniversary or Valentine's card, and just random shapes for a fun look on your card, including clouds, flowers, circles, etc.
To add a bit more interest on this card, I cut quite a few more of the peony die cuts and stacked them on top of each other for a chip board effect, gluing the final product on top of the ink blending. Finally, I stamped the large "hello" sentiment on the bottom center of the card panel in the same brown ink I used on the smaller sentiments and mounted the entire panel onto an A2 top folding card base with double sided adhesive and fun foam.
So many wonderful challenges today, after all it is WORLD CARDMAKING DAY!!! Be sure and play along and link up your card to be entered into a drawing for a Joy Clair Stamp Set!!! Happy World Cardmaking Day everyone!!!

Lovely, great use of die cuts. As I started this challenge I realized all of my diecuts are very small, so I got a bit creative. I will share my card within the day. Thank you for this challenge.
