Wow, wow, wow!!! October was a fantastic month for all of us. Our first celebration of World Cardmaking Day was an amazing event. Designers and cardmakers really enjoyed our time creating projects and developing themes for each challenge and we are so proud of all the creations, comments and enthusiasm. Simple Holiday (Halloween & Christmas) Cards with Joy Clair Stamps

Two new sets from Joy Clair Stamps that I haven't had the chance to really play with yet are two of my favorites! Today, I wanted to make a few projects with the new October Fun & Ugly Sweater Stamp Sets. Both projects are super easy and because they are two separate holidays and one is a set, I did separate the videos. So you get two video tutorials today!! You can watch them both below!

Let's begin with the set of Christmas cards. The brand new Ugly Sweater background is perfect for stamping quick and easy Christmas backgrounds, however, today I wanted to use it in a different way. I started by die cutting an A2 white card stock panel with three different sized circle dies. I did keep the circle die cuts as well for another quick card while I had the supplies out. After mapping out the circle die cuts on another white A2 panel, I started stamping different backgrounds over each area where the circles would end up. I heat embossed all of my stamping in white. I also stamped the same backgrounds onto the the circle dies cuts I set aside. Before stamping and heat embossing in white, I did treat my paper with my embossing bag. With white embossing powder on white paper, it is VERY hard to see any stray powder, so it is really important to keep them at a minimum.

After all of the embossing was finished I moved onto color each "ornament". I went with my distress inks - using three different combos of colors. For the card with the die cut panel over, I made sure to mask off areas for different colors and then sponged on the ink over the embossing. On each die cut I sponged on ink as well with my mini ink blending tool. After adding the ink, I went back in with a dry cloth to buff away any leftover ink on the embossing powder.

The final step in this card was putting them together. I popped up the die cut panel over the heat embossed panel using fun foam and double sided adhesive. After stamping the "Joy" sentiment from the Christmas Coffee stamp set, I added gray toppers to each ornament that I had hand cut and also drew in a string with a black pen to finished it off. The next two cards with the die cuts were put together in pretty much the same way. I popped up the circle die cuts with fun foam and double sided adhesive onto A2 card bases after adhereing on gray toppers. Also, I used the same black pen to add strings and switched up the sentiment, using the Hello Sentiments stamp set.

So after I finished that set of cards, I moved onto my Halloween card. I had already colored up the little vampire and witch kiddos but I did color up the ghost in the video above to show you how to add a little color and dimension to your "white" images. I did quite a bit of masking and sponging to create this scene, using my die cuts as masks. I added the little costumed kiddos with fun foam and double sided adhesive, along with their treat bags, onto the scene. Finally, I used the Hello Sentiments again to stamp my sentiment, bending the "sending" word to fit the circle!

October Inspiration from LeeAnn Second Edition

Greetings friends and fellow crafters. LeeAnn here today with my second set of projects for the Joy Clair team. Have you ever had a stamp set just scream at you with how it wants to be used, and so you get started and while not knowing how it is going to turn out, you just let loose? Let me say that happened with this adorable set called Out of This World.

 From the beginning I knew the finished project was going to be a slider card with the rocket going from the Earth to the Moon, it can also spin around and come back.  

 To make this project I used multiple colors of distress inks including Black Soot, Seedless Preserves, Wild Honey, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers, layers upon layers. Once dry I splattered with a mixture of white acrylic ink and water. 

The images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. 

I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and used Recollections Silver Embossing powder and my heat tool to finish it off. 

I used a Lawn Fawn slider die to cut the track, and foam dots and a penny to complete the mechanism. I will make another soon, and video the process, I am sorry I did not think to film or photograph it this time. 

I used double stick tape to adhere the elements, and with that this project was complete. 

 My next project today is using Christmas Coffee. This set is a favorite, as it can be used along with our Ugly Sweater background set to design the mug, as well as the image with this set. 

 I had fun with this image, first I stamped several impressions of the coffee mug with Memento Tuxedo Black in case of error while designing. 

After using the Scan n Cut to cut it out, I put figured out which of the two mug designs I wanted to use. After going through my background paper I found this paper pack from Recollections I purchased in 2015 and had not used yet, and the decision was made for the design.

Using an MFT die and my Big Shot I cut a 3" by 4" rectangle from the background paper, then using a Spellbinders die I cut the 4" by 5.25" rectangle from cardstock. I then used two cross stitched dome dies and cut out of green and white cardstock and mounted them together with double stick tape. I did have to trim the bottom of the green layer in order for proper fitting. 

For the coffee mug design I alternated Cottage Ivy and Lady Bug dew drop Inks from Memento in order to get a true pattern. Let me just say I used 4 of my cup cuts to finally get one I was really happy to use. 

I adhered everything down the way I wanted it on the A2 base and then positioned the Merry Christmas sentiment stamps (I really do love that they are separate stamps in this set) and then stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black. With that this project was complete.

Fall Leaves

Hello inky friends!  I'm happy to be back to share a fun fall card using one of the new Joy Clair stamp sets called Fall Leaves.  I love this set because it is a combination of leaves and the "skeleton" veins as well as some gorgeous sentiments. I stamped the leaves directly onto my Gelli Plate and then applied my kraft paper to the plate.  This lifted the leaves and the color off perfectly.  I think it gives a nice image that isn't crisp and clean but rather a bit dreamy.  I added some swipes of color onto the plate too then applied those too.  The Gelli Plate is so fun to use! 

After creating the background, I applied some ink and Gold Pan Pastel to the edges to make it shimmer and shine.  I also added some gloss, let it dry then buffed the gloss over with gold Pan Pastel.

After finishing the background panel, I mounted it onto dark brown cardstock and machine stitched around the border.  I attached some twine and some golden pearls and then finished it off by adding a few stamped, colored and fussy cut leaves. 

Mounting this image onto a bright yellow card base helped set the stage for this gorgeous fall card.  Bring on the cool, crisp air! 

Little Monsters and Fly With Me

Hello Joy Clair Fans!  Lori here today and I have two cards to share with you that I made with 2 of the newly released stamp sets.  For my first card I used the Little Monsters stamp set.

For this A2 size card I started with white card stock for the base of the card.  I then took the orange and black paper, inked the edges with black ink and then attached that to the base of the card.  I took the monsters from the Little Monsters stamp set and stamped them with Memento Black ink onto some watercolor paper.  I colored in the monsters with Copic markers and then cut them apart and inked the edges with green ink and arranged them onto the card.    I took the sentiment from the same stamp set and stamped that onto some white paper, inked the edges with green ink and then attached that to some black paper and then placed that onto the card.  I then took the sentiment from the Spooky Greetings stamp set:

I took Memento black ink and stamped the Hocus Pocus sentiment onto white paper, inked the edges with green ink and then attached it to some black paper and then added it to the card.  I then took some green paper and an old die from My Craft Spot Fancy Edges Halloween (no longer available) and cut out the slime and placed that on the top of the card.

Here is my second card that I made with the Fly With Me stamp set.

For this A2 size card I started with white card stock for the base of the card.  I took some blue marble paper, inked the edges with Tumbled Glass distress ink and then added that to the base of the card.  I took some watercolor paper, black Memento ink and the balloon stamps from the Fly With Me stamp set and stamped the balloons onto the paper.  I colored in the balloons with Copic markers and then fussy cut each one out and added them to the card.  I then took the sentiments from that stamp set and stamped them and the birds onto the card.  Hot air balloons always make me happy!  They are so bright and colorful and they just looks so pretty!  I love seeing them floating across the sky!

Something different by Martha Lucia

Can we make something different? Yes, of course!!! The imagination is unlimited and today is one of these day in that you see other Martha Lucia. I said other because I am using different colors, stretching stamps and creating two models of cards atypical of mine. Why? Because I think some times we asked if we can make something different! 

My first card was created with the stamp set Rose Sentiments and before to make this card I never imagine this set in a Halloween card! Maybe I am wrong but this set is one of the most romantic sets that Joy Clair Stamps has, with elegant and traditionals sentiments and a beautiful frame of flowers. Well but why don't use these in another way and don't follow the original intention?

I started to stamp the flowers frame over a piece of whisper white paper using Versamark and Perissa WOW Embossing Powder, this is mix of silver and gold colors that WOW has and it is simply gorgeous!. I melted the powder with the heat tool. Then I sponged two different distress inks over the embossing piece. I used Victoria Velvet and Seedless Preserves but I keep the center of the frame a little lighter.

With the help of my MISTI, I stamped the Ghost and the vamps images on the center of the flowers frames using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and sprayed the piece with Sparkle Shimmer to activate the ink and have more dazzling.

The rest was very simple, I just created the card base using Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock, I added a second layer of decorated paper with some net details and added a belt with textured paper on the same color base. I stamped the one of the sentiments included on the set Rose Sentiments with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and added a tiny piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock. To embellish a little more the card I added some dots on the center of the nets and belt with Novu Crystal Drops Violet Galaxy.

SECOND PROJECT

This card is totally different because I used decorated paper to stamp the lined and detailed images from the stamp set Christmas Coffee from Joy Clair. Take a look at my card:

Normally, when you see the name of the stamps you imagine what it is for and immediately you classified it. But remember that you can use the stamps for whatever you want. If you follow the original intention of this set, maybe this can be used only for Christmas and winter coffee lovers blog hop. However, as you can see in my card, this is not a Christmas card. Don't you think?

The only pieces of cardstock that this card has are the card base and the tiny circle that said Coffee. The rest of the card are decorated papers!!! I decided to make something different using decorated papers and stamps. I used papers with different designs and the lined cup and one decorated yellow paper with less pattern for the detailed image. All the cups where stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and fussy cut with scissors.

For the background I used the Altenew Layered Plaid Cover Die A and Layered Plaid Cover Die B with decorated papers too. The sentiments where stamped using Memento Lilac Posies and I cut the tiny word Coffee using a 3/4 circle punch.

All the pieces were pasted with double sided foam tape of different highs to obtain more dimension. I hope my projects inspires you to make something different with your stamps and use the occasion images for whatever season you want! The sky is the limit!

Joy Clair Faith Quotes and Out of this World

Hello everyone!

It's Donna here I am showcasing today the Color by Faith - Bible Journaling collection "Faith Quotes".  This set has some amazing quotes that are perfect for bible journaling, but also for making a quick card.  My card is an A2 card, I die cut the top layer with a Rectangle Stitched die, I then used a few Circle Stitched die and cut them out randomly.  I then die cut some stitched circles from the Rinea paper foil and added them to the die cut circles on the card.  I stamped the sentiment from the Joy Clair Faith Quotes stamp set and die cut it out with a stitched circle and used foam tape to pop it up on my card.  

My next card, I had so much fun creating!  The stamp set is another release from last month from Joy Clair called  "Out of this World".  It is a box card die that I used from Lawn Fawn.  I die cut three of the pieces and put the box together.  I used a sheet of paper measuring 5x8 and distressed the paper using Tim Holtz distressing inks.  I splattered some water, white and black distress paint and Sheer Shimmer Sparkle onto the distressed piece of paper so that it could look like the galaxy.  I then used the dies from the box card and die cut the sides out of the paper I distressed and adhered them to the box.  The top of the box where the scallops are, I made a interactive piece so Saturn can move around the card.  I colored all the elements using copics from the Joy Clair "Out of this World".  I used clear acetate to place the elements in the box card.

Faith Quotes and Salt and the Light cards by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph here today using several new stamp sets from Joy Clair.

I used Faith Quotes and Be Brave for my first card.  Using the MISTI I stamped the feather from the Be Brave stamp set in several colors of ink.  I wanted the middle of the feather darker than the rest and the MISTI makes it easy to stamp several colors and keep the feather aligned at all times.

I inked the feather panel with coordinating ink then matted it with black cardstock.   I wrapped Whisker Graphics twine around the panel and added it to a green card with foam adhesives for dimension.  I added a phrase from Faith Quotes   which I stamped in black ink and matted with black cardstock before adding to the card with foam adhesives.

Shine Bright is from the  Salt and the Light stamp set.

I began by cutting strips of yellow cardstock on an angle in varying widths. Inking each strip, I then placed them on a cardstock panel so they radiated from one corner.   Once adhered, I poured embossing powder over the entire panel and heat set.  This provided a nice effect on the background.

Using foam adhesives, I added the panel to a black card.  Shine Bright was stamped and die cut, then inked with yellow to coordinate with the card.  I matted it with yellow and black die cut circles and then added it to the corner of the card with foam adhesives.

October Inspiration 1 from LeeAnn

Greetings friends and fellow crafters... LeeAnn here with a post using two sets of Joy Clair stamps and a little fun I decided to have with them.

 

First up is October Fun, these little kids just really struck me when I saw them and I knew right way they were going to be made into goodie bags. We have very few children that come by on Halloween, last year was only our two great nephews at the time ages 4 and 1, and that was just fine with us, we got the leftovers :)

 

The first thing I did was to figure out with background paper I wanted to use for each little baggie.  

I used my Big Shot to cut 5 circle dies that would fit the sentiments.

After stamping each of the images and sentiments with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I used my Scan N Cut to cut the images of the little Halloween Kids.

And then my Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers to color them. 

I used double stick tape to attach the sentiments and kid, as well as the topper to the baggies. I made sure my candy matched the images that were packed inside. 

I did change out the candy in one baggy, and then mailed them all off to a friend. They have already been received so I hope she and her grandchildren enjoyed them. 

 

My second project today comes from our Color by Faith line. This set is sentiments, and it was about 1am and I was talking to a friend online while thinking about what I was going to do, and it hit me. I made the card and then thought wow, is this too gory, then realized... it will not go live until around Halloween, and it fits the sentiment, so it will work.

 The image is from the Silhouette design store, by Sophie Gallo. I purchased this image and never had a use for it. After opening it up in the Silhouette software, I made a few sizing adjustments and used the print feature.  I then cut the panel to the proper size 3.75" by 5" and stamped the sentiment. I then mounted on a 4" by 5.25" black panel, which was then mounted on an A2 base.

Be a Flamingo and Out of this World

 Joy Clair Fans!!  Lori here today to share a couple of cards I made with the 2 stamps sets.  I am going to start with the Be a Flamingo stamp set.

For this A2 size card I started with white card stock for the base of the card.  I took a piece of paper from the Lemoncraft 6 x 6 paper pack and added that to the card base.  I took some watercolor paper and some Memento Black ink and stamped the Flamingo from the Be a Flamingo stamp set onto the paper.  I colored it in with Copic markers and then I cut it out using the Gina Marie Designs rectangle die.  I decided where I wanted to place the sentiment and stamped that with black ink.  I then took a piece of coral paper and mounted the flamingo onto the paper and then cut it out with the next size up rectangle die. I then took some DL.ART Pink Hue crinkle ribbon from the Mermaid's Tale First Edition pack and made a bow and attached that to the top left hand corner of the card.

I made my next card with the Out of this World stamp set.

For this A2 size card I started with white card stock for the base of the card.  To make my background look like outer space I used some distress inks to make the background.  I got out my distress inks, my blending tool, watercolor paper and my craft mat.

I took my Picked Raspberry distress ink, blending tool and the watercolor paper and rubbed some ink onto the paper.

 

Then I took the Blueprint Sketch distress ink and my blending tool and rubbed on some of the blue ink being sure to overlap it onto the pink area. 

 

I took the Seedless Grape distress ink and the blending tool and rubbed that onto the rest of the paper.  

 

 Then I took some Black Soot distress ink and my blending tool and blended the black ink all around the edges and lightly over the whole thing to make it look like the night sky.

When that was done I spritzed my paper with some water and then sprinkled coarse salt over the paper and let it dry.  

I love the way the salt makes the ink look when it dries!  Really adds to the background.

I wiped the salt off the paper once it was all dry and here is how it looks: 

After the background was done I took another piece of watercolor paper and my black ink and stamped the earth, moon, and spaceships from the Out of this World stamp set  onto the paper and then colored them in with Copic pens and then fussy cut them all out and arranged them on the card.  I took the sentiment and stamped that with Versamark and then heat embossed it with silver embossing powder.
