Hello everyone!! It's Lindsay from the DT here with you today! Every month, the Joy Clair Design Team is tasked with one technique and each member translates it into their own style and adds other tips and techniques to really make it their own and, hopefully, inspire all of you. This month's technique is layering, so today, I have a video tutorial for you all sharing how to layer inks and stamps for added depth and dimension without added bulk for a more clean and simple style. Make sure to watch the video tutorial below for all the details!!
So in the spirit of layers there is quite a lot going on on this card. Starting with a watercolor panel that I die cut I started stamping the Tulip image from the Springtime Flowers stamp set. I used a black waterproof dye ink to do all of the stamping and my MISTI as well. To create the scene I repeatedly stamped the tulip (five times) horizontally across the panel, then I used my Micron pen to draw in a ground line. To finish off the scene I used brown, green and blue Distress Inks to watercolor in the sky, ground and stems and leaves.
For the tops of the flowers, I first stamped the top of the tulip image onto scrap pieces of card stock. I used pastel colors in pink, yellow, green, blue and purple. After fussy cutting each flower I distress inked the edges of the flowers for added depth and then blackened the cut edges with my Black Soot Distress Marker. To finish off the flower tops I gave them a spritz of Shimmer Spray, then adhered them over the stamped flowers on the panel with double sided adhesive and fun foam.
To finish off the card I first stamped the "hello" sentiment in Versmark ink and heat embossed in black glitter. Then, I adhered the watercolor panel onto a kraft scalloped rectangle die cut. Finally I adhered all of those layers onto an A2 side folding white card base.
I hope you are learning alot and seeing all different kinds of layering from the DT! I wanted to share with you how I incorporate layering into my clean and simple card style without adding alot of dimension and extra bulk and I hope you all enjoyed the video tutorial! So until next time, Happy Crafting!!
