Hi Everyone! It's Lindsay from the Design Team here with you today, sharing a little Bible Journaling featuring the God's Treasures stamp set that was just released! I am just starting my journey into Bible Journaling and I am in absolute love with the Color by Faith line from Joy Clair Stamps. These stamp sets give me a great starting point for my journaling and allow me to create beautiful pages, even though I am not that great of an artist. You can watch my video tutorial below to see exactly how I created my first ever Journal Page in my Bible.
Because I was using the brand new "God's Treasures" stamp set, I turned to Matthew 6:19-21. I found it best to stamp in dye ink because of the slick texture of my Bible so I pulled out Memento Dye Inks in the colors Paris Dusk, Rhubarb Stalk, and London Fog. I also used a black dye ink as well. Before I started any stamping I did plan out where exactly I would be stamping each individual stamp and I also inserted a piece of white typing paper behind my page, just to catch any bleed through that might occur.
In order to get my placement right I started with my bottom verse on the right hand margin and while stamping it in the Paris Dusk ink, I left my other stamps down as place holders. Next, I moved onto the top verse and stamped it in the Paris Dusk ink also, and finally on the right hand margin I stamped the chest image in black dye ink. Moving onto the "X" in the stamp set, I decided to stamp it Rhubarb Stalk dye ink directly over the verses that inspired this entire journal page so I could easily find these and go back to reread them often. Finally, I repeatedly stamped the dashed lines in London Fog ink from the red "X" to the top and bottom verses that I had stamped earlier. I wanted to use a light ink so I would not distort the words on my page at all, but dark enough to be seen.
With my stamping complete I brought out my colored pencils and started working on my chest that I had stamped in black dye ink, making sure I had given it plenty of time to dry beforehand. (You could always use your heat tool to speed the process along!) I used a few different shades of brown and yellow for the chest in order to give it some depth and a mix of yellows, reds, blues, greens, purples, and creams for the treasures inside. To color the sand I first laid down a full layer of light brown and then came back in with some "dots" in darker shades of brown for some shading and added depth. Finally, I added a bit of blue around the upper portion of the image and a bit of gray for some grounding beneath the sand. The coloring on this page was a lot of fun to play around with, but at the same time, I wanted to keep the colors in the image similar to those I stamped with for a cohesive look!
This being my very first Bible Journaling Page, I have to say, I am quite happy with the way it came out. I know it is quite clean and simple, but to be honest, that is my style and I'm glad it came through so well in my freshly started Bible Journaling! The great thing about the "God's Treasures" stamp set is that not only was I able to create this journal page, I can also use it for my cards, tags, as well as many more journaling pages! I hope you all enjoyed today's video as much as I enjoyed creating it!! See you next time!
